Reduced the use of fertiliser on
20,000 hectares of farmland near the
Great Barrier Reef

the quality of soil on
15,000 hectares
of land in the dry tropics region

We have removed barriers
to fish movement along
5,000 kilometres
of creeks and rivers

We have helped over
90 families in semi-urban areas
to protect native plants in their backyard

About us

NQ Dry Tropics is a community based not-for-profit company. We have been working to improve the environment in north Queensland’s dry tropics for over a decade.

NQ Dry Tropics is one of 14 recognised natural resource management bodies in Queensland that works with federal and state governments to deliver positive outcomes for natural assets. Our funding comes from the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country initiative and the Queensland Government’s Q2 Coasts and Country initiative.

We successfully manage more than $11 million worth of project investment each year. Our areas of focus include improving water quality, supporting sustainable farming and grazing practices, protecting rare and threatened species as well as native habitat, and engaging the community to achieve this outcome.
