Ann
McKenzie
Community Support and Engagement
Facilitator based at Charters Towers
As
part of the community engagement team, Ann’s role is to work
closely with the local community identifying and developing
partnerships, providing community support, sharing an understanding
of local issues and promoting natural resource
management. Ann also works as part of the NQ Dry
Tropics team on projects across and beyond the boundaries of
the region.
Ann comes from a rural extension background
having worked in the sugar industry as well as for the State
Government in the area of noxious weed and pest animal
management. Her most recent role before joining the NQ
Dry Tropics team was as National Coordinator for Pond Apple and
Hymenachne Management.
Ann has a degree in Land Resource Science
from the University of Queensland and grew-up on a small rural
property (beef cattle) near Gympie in south-east
Queensland. Ann spends her spare time working with her
partner on their small cattle block near Charters Towers and on
their property at Duaringa in Central Queensland.
