NRM Data Manager
The NRM Data Manager is responsible for the
management, maintenance and ongoing development of natural resource
information and monitoring systems crucial to NQ Dry Tropics'
ongoing planning and implementation process. This includes
collection, validation, and management of all natural resource data
for the region.
The NRM Data Manager provides advice to Project Managers in
methods for collection of data for regional investment projects.
This advice includes data collection plans, internal management of
data, sharing of data with regional partners and data
integration/blending to guide future planning activities.
The NRM Data Manager can provide advice to community groups and
individuals involved in natural resource management planning
activities such as GPS data collection and computer mapping.
A core function of this position is to ensure that NRM data and
information is utilised by internal staff, partner agencies, the
community and individuals involved in sustainable natural resource
management.
Doug Willis has been with NQ Dry Tropics since November 2005
having served with the Australian Defence Force for 20 years as a
cartographer, photogrammetrist, air camera operator and GIS
specialist . Doug has been involved with the Regional Groups
Collective Project steering team for nearly two years. This
team has guided the statewide purchase of SPOT 5 satelllite imagery
, development of standards and delivery of GIS and GPS training
across Queensland.
