This basin consists of two subcatchments. These are:

Abbot Bay

Abbot BayAbbot Bay is a very small subcatchment, comprising just under 1,200 square kilometres.

The land use is predominantly grazing but holds a significant horticulture industry.

The area consists of a number of rivers and creeks. These are: Elliot River, Saltwater Creek, Splitters Creek and Euri Creek. The Elliot River stretches from the south of this catchment off the Mount Aberdeen National Park and Pine Hill.

The creek systems of this sub-division are short-living, only running for short periods after significant rainfall. The coastal freshwater wetlands are also mostly seasonal.

The Traditional Owners are the Juru people.

Don River

Don RiverDon River is a very small subcatchment, comprising just over 1,200 square kilometres.

The Don River is a system that flows for short periods after significant rainfall. No major permanent waterholes are known though some smaller holes are likely present. Coastal freshwater wetlands are also mostly seasonal.

There is a low diversity of freshwater fish in the river, mostly due to the low amount of permanent freshwater available.

The Traditional Owners are the Juru people.
