Because of its physical size, cost and the need to maintain an
up-to-date resource, the Burdekin WQIP Catchment Atlas has been
published electronically. The Burdekin WQIP Catchment Atlas exists
in three forms: (1) A web version accessable from here, (2) on the
disc accompanying the Burdekin WQIP, and, (3) as a downloadble
PDF from the download page. The information presented in
each version was identical at the time of publication, however, the
web version of the Catchment Atlas will be updated if new
information comes to hand.
The Burdekin Water Quality Improvement Plan (BWQiP) region is
divided into 6 basins containing 48 subcatchments. This Atlas
contains summary articles of resource condition at both the basin
and subcatchment level. The atlas is organised by basin and
the colour of the page banners identify the basin to which a
subcatchment belongs.
By its nature the web version supports a different navigational
system to the PDF version. Simply click on - Explore Catchment
page and view the Burdekin WQIP Region via an
interactive Catchment map. To find the resource condition
summary that relates to any given place first locate its
approximate position on the map by reference to roads and place
names. Now move your mouse over the map to that point. The map will
change colour and indicate the basin to which your location
belongs.
Note: the Burdekin WQIP region is divided into 6 colour coded
basins.
Click the map to proceed to that basin in detail. Use the roads,
towns and drainage to refine the location you seek. Now
"mouseover" the map again. The colour highlights now
represent the individual subcatchments contained by that basin.
Select a subcatchment by clicking on it.

You can now view the resource condition
summary for that subcatchment. Note you will need to scroll down
the summary to see the maps.
Note there are two kinds of resource condition summery
- one for each of the 48 subcatchments and one for each of
the 6 basins. You can select the basin level resource
condition summary at any time from the left hand side menu, or from
any basin level explore page (see orange arrows in image
below).
To return to the Basin level rollover map click "Back to
Explore" on any subcatchment banner.
Note: the PDF version of the Catchment Atlas contains a more
powerful indexing solution that also enables the user to search for
a subcatchment by name.
