NQ Dry Tropics works with more than 40 community environment groups. Their interests are vast. Some focus on protecting plant or animal species, some focus on the coast, others are Landcare groups. Community groups play a vital role in rehabilitating and restoring protect, conserve and restore native habitats.

Volunteer

Volunteering is a fun way to get the kids outdoors, meet new people, and give back to your environment. If you would like to volunteer in the dry tropics region, check out What's On.

NQ Dry Tropics is also working with environmental community groups to increase the recruitment and retention of volunteers. Despite volunteers being critical to achieving sustainability, studies show environmental volunteering has the lowest rate of participation. Read here for more information on how to increase volunteer numbers.

Increasing native habitat and Increasing coastal engagement.  These targets drive everything including what the project is potentially about. Working in the coastal environment also includes working in areas that influence the coast.  i.e., we have funded a turtle hospital at JCU under this funding stream.
