CHRRUP NRM
EXPO
CHRRUP (Central Highlands Regional Resources Use Planning
Cooperative Limited) held another Natural Resources Management Expo
in 2009, with funding from BMA Coal. This years expo, which
was held on Wednesday, 29 April at the Emerald Showgrounds
showcased Natural Resources Management to over 750 students in
Years 9-10 from several local high schools.
Jenny Russell, Community Support and Engagement Facilitator at
Emerald, plus Doug Willis, GIS Program Coordinator, and Amanda
Laurie, Project Officer, both from the Townsville Office spent a
hectic day conducting GPS training with the students in fifteen
minute tutorials, whilst also promoting the Reef Guardian Schools
Program to teachers.
The day was a great sucess and CHRRUP plans to hold another expo
next year.
Involvement with CHRRUP (Central
Highlands Regional Resources Use Planning Co-Operative
Ltd):
Jenny regularly attends Monday morning meetings at the CHRRUP
office in the CBD of Emerald. CHRRUP is one of
the NRM groups working within the region. These meetings
are valuable for finding out what is going on in the area, and to
obtain feedback from events and workshops that have recently
occurred.
Jenny also provides support, as needed, for our Project Officer
Bronwyn Roberts (based with CHRRUP with her office at
Clermont). They have together been assisting the
Belyando Suttor Implementation Group (BSIG) in finding a new
direction for the group.
