There are a number of main projects which fall under the
biodiversity programme area.
Managing Pest Plants and Animals
Develop and maintain a coordinated,
cost-effective regional-scale response to controlling pest plants
and animals, and preventing and eradicating new and emerging pests
and weeds, through regional-scale collaborative pest management
planning and the maintenance of a rapid-response to emerging
pests.
Prevent the emergence of new pest plants through collaboration with
plant nurseries, and widespread community promotion.
Threatened Habitats and Endangered Species
Targets existing endangered species
including Irwin’s Turtle, Black Throated Finch, and the
Northern Quoll, and works with landholders, QEPA, researchers and
the wider community to improve and/or increase habitat.
Restoring and Maintaining Habitat Connectivity
Work with landholders, building a
landscape stewardship ethic, and building their capacity to restore
and maintain habitat connectivity in the landscape.
