Whilst NQ Dry Tropics trades primarily from our main office in
the regional hub of Townsville, we also employ key staff who are
based at Bowen, Charters Towers and Emerald.
Up to the end of June last year, NQ Dry Tropics employed a
Federal Government National Landcare Programme funded Landcare
Coordinator who worked across our vast and diverse region from our
base in Townsville. The activities of the position were seen to be
critical for the ability of Landcare and other
community-based land and water management organisations
to continue their significant contribution to the
sustainability of the region’s agricultural enterprises and
its natural resources.
Those activities included assistance to Landcare and other
groups via sharing of knowledge, information and ideas, showcasing
landholder and group successes and significant event stories,
facilitating participation in skills and training activities, and
assistance to better integrate the activities of the groups with
the goals of government programmes and regional natural
resource management plans.
It was on that basis that staff based in the above
regional centres were tasked with continuing to provide that
assistance and support to these groups and organisations when
funding for the position ceased.
NQ Dry Tropics believes that engaging with our landholders is
one of the key areas of our business - so for any queries please
either contact our main office in Townsville or one of our regional
staff. We are here to help and assist whenever possible.
