The first task for Burdekin Dry Tropics NRM was to develop a
Natural Resource Management Regional Plan and a Regional Investment
Strategy to guide the investment of funding to NRM priorities
within the region.
Beginning in 2003, planning brought together all the known
information on the natural resources, as well as the social,
economic and cultural considerations for land and water
management throughout the region. We involved the whole
community in developing targets and priorities for investment
funding.
The Plan was finalised in February 2005 and was accredited in
June 2005 by the Queensland and Australian Government
Ministers.
The Regional Investment Strategy is based on the Plan and
recommends investment to address land and water
management priorities in the region. This was approved in May
2005.
