Great Barrier Reef

the quality of soil on

of land in the dry tropics region

We have removed barriers
to fish movement along
5,000 kilometres
of creeks and rivers

We have helped over
90 families in semi-urban areas
to protect native plants in their backyard

Vehicles on Our Beaches

Driving on beaches is a popular activity in north Queensland for boaties, swimmers, and explorers.

Beaches in the Burdekin and Townsville regions are under increasing pressure from vehicle use.

Public safety concerns are also rising.

NQ Dry Tropics as a member of The Coastal Vehicle Management Steering Committee is working to reduce the impacts of vehicles on our beaches.

The brochure Vehicles on our beaches (link to, provided in publications list) is a brilliant resource that outlines beach access points for vehicles, how to report unlawful driving, how to drive while protecting yourself, our pedestrians, native animals and their habitats.
