Collinsville locals brought up to speed on big energy project with community information day
NQ Dry Tropics Community Engagement and Facilitation Officer Ashleigh Kilgannon attended the Collinsville Green Energy Hub community information day, held in May.

The event gave locals a chance to learn more about the large-scale renewable energy project proposed for pastoral properties near Collinsville and south-west of Bowen. If it goes ahead, the hub could generate up to 3000 megawatts of renewable energy.
Still in the early stages, the project team is busy with wind resource monitoring, ecological and environmental surveys, cultural heritage work with Traditional Owners, and technical studies to help shape the design.
Community and stakeholder consultation is also well underway, with feedback helping to refine and adjust the proposal.

- Planned construction start: 2027 (pending approvals).
- Expected completion: 2031.
