Caring For Country Facilitator

NQ Dry Tropics is seeking a Caring For Country Facilitator for an exciting full time position based in Townsville (Wulgurukaba and Bindal Country) and working throughout the Burdekin Dry Tropics Region.  We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about working together to care for Country.

The position will be part of the NQ Dry Tropics Strategy and Partnerships team working across the Organisation with staff, the NQ Dry Tropics Traditional Owner Management Group (TOMG), and Traditional Owner partners.

The person will be energetic and keen to work across the culturally diverse region with the 16 Traditional Owners group whose Country is located all or partially within the Burdekin Dry Tropics region. Strong communication skills, workshop facilitation, and the ability to juggle multiple projects will be important for this rewarding role.

Requirements for the role include:
Essential
1. Mandatory Requirement: ‘C’ class driver’s licence and ability to travel within the Dry Tropics region. This will occasionally include work or travel outside standard hours with nights away from home.
Desirable but not essential
1. Formal qualifications (eg: Certificate level or above) in Natural Resource Management or a relevant field, and/ or relevant work experience including Cultural Knowledge.
Genuine occupational requirement
To perform this role it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).

On Country Project Officer

NQ Dry Tropics is seeking an On Country Project Officer for a exciting full
time position to be based in Townsville. (Wulgurukaba and Bindal Country) 

Working throughout the Burdekin Dry Tropics Region with a focus on the
Broken, Bogie, and Bowen catchment areas. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about working together with Traditional Owners and our partners to care for Country.

The position will be working primarily with the NQ Dry Tropics Landholders Driving Change project team, graziers, and Traditional Owners supporting projects with a focus on increasing Traditional Owner involvement in land management and monitoring activities. The person will be energetic and keen to work on Country, with a willingness to develop new skills, and be able to communicate well with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Requirements for the role include:
Essential
