Rural Women’s Network is growing connection and well-being

What started as a simple smoko chat has grown into something special — the Bowen Collinsville Rural Women’s Network and already it is growing connections.
It began when local women shared how important — and sometimes tough — looking after their well-being can be when you live outside towns and cities. We listened, and now we’re helping to create a space for meaningful conversation, practical tips, and genuine community connection.
The network held its first event in November at 360 On The Hill in Bowen. Guest speaker Mandy Jackson, an Airlie Beach author of Motherhood and Matrescence, led an open and engaging discussion on women’s well-being.
From the everyday realities of motherhood to the unique pressures and joys of rural life, Mandy explored what it means to care for ourselves while caring for our families, land, and communities.
Here’s what you can expect when you get involved:
- A welcoming, supportive environment where everyone feels heard.
- Open, relatable conversations about life, motherhood, and self-care.
- Ideas and tools to boost your well-being and resilience.
- Opportunities to connect with other women from the Bowen–Collinsville area and build lasting friendships.
The network’s aim is simple — to create a community driven by local women, for local women.
Members will shape the agenda, set the priorities, and develop activities that matter most to them, their families, and their businesses, because when women connect, communities thrive.
