Landholders Driving Change Project Panel wraps up for the year
The Landholders Driving Change (LDC) Project Panel met for the final time this year, with Christmas just around the corner.
The meeting focused on two overarching goals, in the short term, oversight of the delivery of the LDC2 investment, which concludes in June 2026, and in the longer term, preparing for what comes next.
Beyond June, the panel will continue to play an important role in guiding future investment opportunities in the Bowen Broken Bogie (BBB) catchment. Its aim is to attract ongoing funding to ensure the continuity of efforts that help communities in the Bowen and Collinsville region manage healthy, productive landscapes.
With several investments already underway, its involvement helps ensure that local people and businesses remain central to regional decision-making and project delivery.
The LDC panel’s focus spans several key areas, including:
- grazing land management;
- gully and erosion repair;
- guiding and advising on communications activities; and
- Traditional Owner engagement.
While NQ Dry Tropics holds formal accountability for the delivery of the LDC project, the panel provides strategic oversight within an agreed Terms of Reference outlining its membership, scope, and operating rules.
Its role includes:
- reviewing key LDC project strategy documents and overseeing implementation;
- reviewing annual work plans and progress reports;
- Guiding and advising on communications activities; and
- identifying and facilitating links between projects, research, policies, and programs that contribute to project success.
The Landholders Driving Change Phase Two project is delivered by NQ Dry Tropics through funding from the Queensland Government under the Queensland Reef Water Quality Program.
