From the Land to the Sea: Improving the Health of Coastal Ecosystems
This project aims to improve the health of coastal ecosystems by reducing the threats to the region’s Outstanding Universal Value World Heritage properties, including the Great Barrier Reef, the Bowling Green Bay Ramsar wetlands and the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.
Key project activities will include restoring fish habitat connectivity, strategic pest animal and weed management and revegetation. Community awareness will focus on the impact of human activities on the region’s coastal ecosystems including impacts to threatened and vulnerable species. Activities will be delivered in collaboration with stakeholders and community members, with regular monitoring and reporting to inform progress.
This project is funded through the Australian Government’s Reef Trust and delivered through the National Landcare Program Regional Land Partnerships agreement.
