Collinsville workshop clears the air around vegetation management laws
Landholders seeking clarity about Queensland’s Vegetation Management laws attended a workshop in Collinsville in March.
Department of Natural Resources and Mines representatives Peter Webley and Scott Devaney were on hand to answer questions and walk landholders through the process of applying for a PMAV (Property Map of Assessable Vegetation).
The workshop helped landholders better understand their vegetation categories, the role of PMAVs in long-term planning, and how vegetation laws support erosion control, biodiversity, and improved water quality.
John Skinner from White Kangaroo Station said the session helped him check for law changes and explore PMAV options. “It’s important to keep having these conversations with the government so we stay front-of-mind,” he said.
Stephanie Tudehope from Landers Creek Station agreed.
“Online information is hard to navigate, so this was a real time-saver,” she said.
Landholders were encouraged to contact VegHub — a free service with regional staff who understand life on the land — for ongoing support.
This was the final workshop delivered under the Reef Trust Partnership BBB investment and was co-delivered by the Landholders Driving Change (LDC2) project funded by the Queensland Government.
